7/18 DL233 AMS-SEA cancellation reason? EU261 claims?

DL233 AMS-SEA was cancelled on 7/18 for reasons not disclosed to me at the airport (but which I overheard were crew availability related).

A frazzled but helpful KL ticket agent at Schiphol got me home via KL611 SEA-ORD and UA1060(!) ORD-SEA, about 8 hours late - much better than flying via DTW tomorrow which she indicated was what DL was trying to rebook me on. She also helpfully provided the standard cancellation aid package (meal voucher, phone voucher, 50EUR future flight discount voucher that she explicitly said did not waive any other compensation rights I might have.)

A casual reading of the cheerful literature on the rack in the ticket desk waiting area (http://www.klm.com/travel/br_en/imag...532-221268.pdf) suggested the circumstances might be claimworthy, depending on the circumstances of the cancellation. (€1200 cash or €1600 in travel scrip for my companion and I is a pretty good incentive to pursue.)

Did anyone else get hit by this? Would love to compare notes - also would love to know if there was ever any official word on the reason for the cancellation.
