Well that's new! I guess it can happen, even though uncommon. If OP gets declined there are still plenty of other drinks to enjoy.

The law basically prevents purchase or public possession of alcohol under 21, but not consumption as far as I understand it. I think the bigger issue ends up being for the person who sold/provided someone under 21 with alcohol. I'm not a lawyer though, so best to do your own research there.
