I'm an EXP, and traveling on an award flight from DFW-SYD. I'm actually flying DFW-SNA, LAX-SYD. There are about 14 hours between flights. In between I'm going to Disneyland. This was deliberately planned, flying into SNA since it's closer to Disneyland.

So that I don't have to deal with my large bags, can I check my bags as DFW-LAX-SYD? Is that allowed now that security checks every bag? Is there anything special I need to ask for at check in if so? This is all on the one ticket.
