Don't forget the (high) fuel surcharge for those very short-haul.
I remember checking SIN-KUL (50 min flight), 7.5k avios, but the fuel surcharge was really high.
I ended up buying regular ticket.

Check on BA site, and see how much is the fuel surcharge for your trip.

SIN - YVR

We have about 120,000 Avion points. The question is, whether we're better off using those for the long-haul legs (either as AA or Asia miles) or trying to use the Avion miles to book some of the short-haul legs.

In either case, Avion seems to require a *ton* of miles compared to the value of the ticket (for example 100K for YVR-HKG and SIN-YVR, where it'd cost 70K to convert the same miles to Asia Miles and book through CX).

The short-haul chart for North America looks a lot better, so I'm wondering if we might do well to spend the Avion points 15K at a time on the shorter legs like HKG-BKK or especially BKK<-->USM.

Alternatively, I've got about 50K AP miles which could cover the BKK-USM leg on Thai as a *A reward. Any thoughts?

Any advice appreciated! Thanks!
