I agree. My flat is one minute walk from a Piccadilly line station and my work 5 minute from another, but my flat is also about 5 minutes walk from a Crossrail station and while I never use HeX, I certainly hope to switch allegiance from Piccadilly to Crossrail if the pricing is decent, especially when I "suffered" the super hot and stuffy tube from T5 yesterday!

BTW, does anybody know what are the expected hours of operation of Crossrail? It would be great if it started earlier and finished later than the tube and would certainly make it easier to use public transport to catch the early flights from LHR.

Finally the T123 - T4 - T5 conundrum is essentially a problem of conception of the airport. It can't be commercially viable to serve more than two of the three stations (as it takes time) but it is strange to me that LHR does not have its own efficient inter-terminal circuit system. Current dependence on HeX means too infrequent connections between T123 and T5, the landside buses are slow and inefficient, and the airside buses are efficient but also slow. I'm surprised they haven't installed the equivalent of the LGW or FRA transit (ideally the latter to use it both landside and airside, the lack of airside transfer at LGW is a massive pain in the neck).
