Sadly, this is mostly true of quality airlines. AF's ultra long haul 77W often used on the likes of CDG-SGN (13 hours) and CDG-BKK (12 hours) seats 468 people! You are right that the 332 is one of the few AF's planes which still retains a half decent seating in all classes, essentially because despite what I have no doubt must have been extensive research by AF and the likes to try it, they can't find a way of fitting a 9th seat per row because of the curve of the plane (thank you Airbus!!! ^) the way they managed a 10th on the 777. But indeed, I have no doubt they would manage many more seats on a domestic 332 version, fair enough (I don't think they would on a domestic 777).
