When choosing the routing for this vacation I could either burn some *A points and fly FRA - SXB via BRU, VIE or a number of other *A hubs or take the LH bus.
No it's not one of those. It's one of these:
Neither of these photos are mine, but the second looks like it was taken at the final destination - the Strasbourg Hilton.
So why does it qualify for inclusion here: It has an LH flight number, you book it through the LH website, you earn *A points.
We could have caught a train, but there was a couple of changes and with luggage we all know what that's like and at Strasbourg we would have to get from the station to the Hilton Hotel via tram. Last year we did a strange town, buy tram tickets in French and juggle bags thing in Bordeaux and it wasn't my funnest day out.
The LH bus picks you up just outside Terminal 1 on the arrivals level and is clearly marked. The driver loads your luggage when you show him your eTicket and you all board for your rather boring trip to Strasbourg. (Nothing to see here,, let's move along.)
At the other end there are two stops. The first is the Strasbourg station where everybody except us got off then the Strasbourg Hilton. The Hilton is not in the centre of town, but it is conveniently located on a tram line which provides a great service. I'm Hilton Gold so we get executive benefits. This coupled with the end of the line stop made it a no brainer for this trip.
By the way, we loved Strasbourg and Alsace. By way of restaurant recommendations in Strasbourg I can highly recommend a small, 9 table restaurant called Restaurant Gavroche. It's an absolute must.
