I am thinking about status matching my AA PLT to UA Gold since they have a lot more direct flights out of DCA and IAD.

How are upgrades as a premier gold? Will it happen every so often? I like the idea of "true" complimentary upgrades rather than "spending" a 500-mile upgrade on AA.

I will probably fly WAS>DEN a lot, and maybe WAS>DEL every so often.
