The ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) trojan brings up a page that looks like the Homeland Security website and tells you to pay $500 to get your computer back. It completely took over our computer and we couldn't boot in safe mode and were unable to do any of the other tricks to get rid of it. We lost everything on it and we learned a costly lesson about backing up the computer. Please don't berate me for not backing up the computer because I already feel stupid for not doing it.

We had a flash drive in one of the USB ports that contained many of my husband's client files (he's an attorney). I found instructions on-line yesterday on how to find-out if a flash drive has a virus. I went through the process and, fortunately, there weren't any .exe files on the flash drive; there were only Word and WordPerfect files. I scanned it antivirus software and it looks fine.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
