With other airline alliances, mileage accrual is a lot more complicated to figure out — the "marketing carrier" can matter a lot for figuring out how many status miles you've earned in the AA or BA systems, for example. With UA, usually only the operating carrier matters for PQM.
Not to go too far off topic, but I'd consider oneworld rules to be far LESS complicated--the carrier on your ticket is always the one considered for mileage-earning ... operating carrier doesn't matter at all, so there's no need to jump through hoops to learn what you'll earn.
