So why should I even bother to register for this?
Unlike the Delta-Starwood partnership, there's no ongoing benefit for me to be registered - or am I missing something?
Unless you take advantage of the points transfer/earnings features, there is no benefit for someone in your situation today. Down the road, if your travel patterns significantly change and you no longer achieve high-tier status in both programs, you may see the benefit.
