Not even a question about it. I wouldn't try. Certainly would ruin a perfectly good trip for everyone else.
My first kid, daughter, just turned 9 months yesterday and so far through 3 round-trips (all on UA), we've been asked exactly zero times by UA and TSA agents.
We'll be flying out on US soon - and have her passport ready, but BWI/LGA/ANC/SEA/SAN don't seem to care too much about our baby's documentation :-)
