Update for those interested:
- As previously reported, I emailed the GOES help desk. No response five days later (and at this point I'd be surprised if I get anything).
- Have confirmed that in GOES you can:
- Update your mailing address
- change your password
- Update your passport information IF it has expired/is about to expire and is renewed
- It MAY be possible to update your driver's license information if it has expired/is about to expire, but I was not able to confirm that (in my case I got a new driver's license in a different state and thus had not hit a "renewal/expiration tripwire" (if one exists) in GOES.
- My other passport (which expired last year) still appears in GOES and there is no way to update it (yes I had two passports at once in GOES).
- The ONLY way to update phone numbers, employment info, changes like new driver's license when the other hasn't expired, etc. is by going to a CBP office. Unfortunately, there is NO way to make an appointment because appointments are tied to new Global Entry applications. The result is you are a walk-in and need to wait.
I will give the team at IAD (Dulles) credit. They had about 15 people sitting in chairs outside the office waiting for appointments. The large sign on the door says "if you have an appointment, do NOT knock, simply take a seat and wait for your name to be called." Since I didn't have an appointment, I knocked and explained to the officer what my problem was. I was told I needed to login to GOES to make the changes. When I explained this wasn't possible, he said I could make an appointment or wait. When I explained there is no way to make an appointment, he asked me to take a seat and said he'd get back to me.
When the next group of 4 people were called in to watch the training video we all remember and love, they also brought me in and one of the officers made the changes. He had some difficulty as it is not a screen they normally go to. I was NOT fingerprinted or asked to scan my fingerprints to verify identify. I did bring my passport and several other acceptable forms of ID with me (I have a number of different federal IDs due to my work). For employment info, I just gave him one of my business cards and he typed in the info off of that.
They still don't have the ability to scan a driver's license to pull the DL info into their computer despite the fact pretty much everyone else in the US seems to be able to do this...
He did say it was a requirement to keep the database up to date so that Customs can reach me if necessary and sympathized at how crappy the website and IT system is...
Hope this helps someone else.
