My experience is different at least at DEL for DEL-DXB-LGW ( booked in J)

I usually dont bother upgrading the DEL-DXB leg to F as its a short flight but I usually try to upgrade the DXB to LGW sector to F

Every single time Ive upgraded the DXB-LGW sector from J to F I have been op upped from J to F for the DEL-DXB sector!!!

Even in the case of Y-J upgrades it has been good but only maybe 70% op up rate.

However in the OP's case I note that there is no status so the chances of an OP up are slim.
