If you're already gold, you still get the 50% point bonus which is the same for Plat (it goes up to 100% if you hit 75 nights). You can also request free internet as your Gold amenity when you check-in.
However the amentity is 500 points for plat against 250 for gold, as gold if you choose the internet you lose the 250 unless it is complimentary in the hotel and you miss the breakfast amenity.
I had a stay the day after achieving plat and got a 7am checkin, suite and the points so I guess I was lucky!
