The service speed issue on the 77W is a problem. I would NEVER try and do a full meal service on an eastbound TATL from JFK or even ORD. The FAs are slowly getting used to it but they are pressuring AA to either decrease the service requirements or add another FA to J (which is what they expected given the cabin size).

The Dine on Request option is your friend here - more commonly dubbed the "Express" meal where you can get everything at once. I generally eat in the Flagship Lounge (where there is dinner) but once on the early AA 100 departure, I did this and had my entire meal served to me before those who didn't do express got their starter. Admittedly, this makes things even more complicated for the crew and only some will do it with a smile but its in the menu as an option so they have to provide it. (It would probably make sense if they reduced this to an express meal option that was something they could just grab from the cart, maybe heat one dish, and serve like US - but alas AA allows you to order an entire meal at once).
