Asked for expedited shipping, which she said they do not do (I find it so strange that Citi is the only bank that refuses to expedite cards. I had the same experience with my Hilton Visa. At least Barclay gives you the option to pay for the service). Also verified the bonus and she confirmed 50,000 miles after $3000 in 3 months.

How quickly are these cards arriving for people? I am headed out of town at the end of next week and was hoping to take this one with me to meet spend. She said 1 week, so I'm right on the border of whether I will get it in time. Has anyone had success in getting the card expedited?

And the the first form of verification i sent via email they couldnt open and it took probably 3-4 days to finally get it all through and approved. So at that point, i asked for rush ship on card so i could buy flights. The person who approved me told me to call CARD Cust. Serv. in 48 hours. I did so and the rep said card was ALREADY issued (Soo maybe try calling before 48 hrs). I hung up and called back. Rep 2 said he could cancel my 1st card and send a new one expedited for a $15 fee. ME: "Please sir, can you waive that fee for me?" Rep 2: "SURE." Me: "Awesome." I received Rep 2's card next day. I also received the card not expedited but i dont remember how long it took.. I think like 5 days. I did try to activate that one too (in case there was some kinda glitch and I could possibly receive 2 50,000 bonuses with only 1 app) but NO luck!

The card i was approved for was the 50K Visa Platinum Select AAdvantage Card on March 12th, 2013. This was when it came with the $150 credit AND 2 admiral passes.. Which i FINALLY got after FOUR months!!! But yes.. It was possible for me! AND i was offered the service for a fee.. so its weird they told you not at all.. Anyways, Good luck!!

Maybe if I wait until Monday they will be able to expedite a card for me? I'm just trying to make sure I have the card by Thursday at the latest as I will be heading out of town.

Edit to Add: I tried to call and ask for the card to be expedited, but once again was rebuffed. It strikes me as very odd that Citi is so unwilling to do this when Amex does it automatically on most cards, and other issuers do it on request. The initial rep I chatted with online told me I would have the card "no later then this time next week." However, the phone rep told me 7-10 days.

And when I asked further was told they can do that only if you already have some kind of account with Citi.. So that fits your security theory.. I dont really know, but I guess I got away with something that usually doesnt happen. So maybe you could just request a replacement card?! But i remember the 7-10 days time frame quote and know i got BOTH cards before then. I hope you get it soon!

For anyone who might be curious, I have now called 3 times (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday morning) in hopes that I would find a rep who would expedite a card for me. All three have shot me down very quickly. Kind of disappointed as I feel this is a pretty standard service that all other banks offer.
