Was at The Ritz again last week. The first time in a couple of years. They upgraded me to a Grand Suite. The Grand suite needs a grand renovation as does the entire hotel. With the exception of the occasional paint touch up and some new carpeting in a few rooms, this place is a major disappointment. It smelled old and looked old. Even the wonderful terrace looked like something out of a third world country. Most of the staff was quite nice. The breakfast which was included and described to me at check in as amazing was nothing special. They did say it will close at the end of this year for a full renovation. That's what they said 10 years ago.
