I thought the process would be much more straight forward and was not expecting to be treated like I was doing something wrong or shady.
OP - I have disputed stuff with Chase before, even foreign transactions. I think currency charges are something you will have a hard time making the average customer support rep understand. I will suggest you put a $ estimate to how much you were overcharged, write up your case, and submit it for dispute via fax or secure message. Since it will only be a partial dispute, Chase will likely just refund you what you dispute and not care about charging back the merchant.
