Just for info: had the following situation with a M&M F award.
It was not a misspelling issue.
Last year I booked M&M F awards for my sister and myself to HKG.
At time of booking, my sister did not yet have her passport. So I reserved the ticket for her using her family name and put her married name (family name of her husband) behind. So we had "AAAAAAAA BBBBBBB-CCCC" in the reservation. It is stated like this on her ID.
When she received her passport, the married name was not on the passport, here we had AAAAAAAA BBBBBBB.
When I saw this, I was a bit worried and called M&M SEN hotline. I was told that the ticket had to be cancelled and book a new one. We would risk to get denied boarding.
However I did not cancel the ticket and left it as it was.
A few days later I had to call M&M again for another reason; and I asked again about the name issue. This time I was told (other agent than on my first call) that it was absolutely no problem, we should not touch the reservation, my sister should just take a copy of her marriage certificate with her in case someone would ask.
At checkin my sisters boarding pass was showing AAAAAAAA BBBBBBBCCCC (both family names in one word).
But no problem at all; nobody cared about it during the whole trip.
