SeatGuru is your friend. The A/B side of the MD80 aircraft has less legroom than the EF side.

aviatorzz, I always do that! I did check seatguru, but, according to the website, both 3A,B and 3E.F have the same legroom (I might be looking at the wrong MD80 config!). I usually fly delta, and the have the same legroom on both sides, so thought would be the same for american (I thought, the aircraft that I looked at, at seatguru, was the one that I would be flying. Turns out that I was wrong!) Anyways, lesson learned!
