Glad you got a result, but personally that route would not have been for me. I lost my faith in the FOS a long time ago; they're just a toothless old dog.

They always found in my favour when I had cause to complain, but the process always took around a year because of the appeals and paperwork processing times. Ridiculous.

These days as soon as I get a "deadlock" letter from a company, it's straight to court. In this case it would have been for the purchase price of 60k Avios plus my time and the court fees.
