You can SDC and then push out your one way hopefully indefinitely... Just keep on extending daily it until your next trip.

As a 1K, you can book with miles and cancel without a fee. It's only 10,000 miles each way.

Or you can start flying Southwest. For sort intra-ca flights I just do Southwest. (And I'm a 1K too). Southwest doesn't charge a change fee.
