Optus.com.au sells nano sim for AUD 45 with 7GB data per month, on a month-to-month plan (cancel any time), so not sure buying on ebay for $50 was a good deal (except for the seller). Lots of other cheaper options, too, but most require purchase in Oz so maybe unsuitable for the OP.
