A bit OT: Moscow trip as a gay couple

Hello,
My OH and I are going to Moscow for a long weekend in August....as well known it seemed a good way to burn the miles for First!

However I am now pensive having seen the amount of press on Putin's new 'gay propaganda' laws which have apparently been extended to include foreigners - just wondered if any board members have any first hand experience or advice about what this will actually translate into in practice?

Whilst we will hardly be unveiling a rainbow flag in the foreground of the Kremlin, I've obviously booked a double room at the Hilton - will this be okay? Our experience in the Middle East has been that this has never really been an issue as long as we're discreet.

Any thoughts much appreciated! Hope I'm not sounding paranoid but just wanted to hear from other BA-ers who've been recently and how it is 'on the ground'.
Cheers!
