That's what I figured and it is not the same as the the GC. It is cash like, yes and can be used by anyone but it has different T&Cs and different expiration. UA considered the GC used at the time of the original purchase and refunded with ETC which is the standard refund method. You in a bit of a limbo but without much higher level intervention, you are struck.
