No offense intended, but a 77-year-old driving on unfamiliar, narrow country roads just doesn't seem to me a really good idea. I'm not saying that public transport is the solution, but perhaps it might be far wiser to hire a local driver to provide transport during the stay.
Use a car? Very expensive, and wasteful. You don't like older people? You intend to die young?
