And I did question the gate agent, I even looked behind and saw the jetway was still attached and friend in dispatch said the door was still open. I said "well, isn't on time at 8:20PM?". She must have been in a hurry to get home.
This morning's flight was completely full from SEA, TSA precheck took 1 minute. And we closed the door RIGHT at 5 minutes before departure and landed in Juneau early.
I'm just a lil steamed that the gate agent knew I was on my way and on the tram. 2 minutes would have saved me a night in Seattle. I still don't know what ate up my time between dropping off my bag @ the line then going to drop off the car. But anyway. A hotel is a bit richer, and AS 79 left at 8:22PM and arrived in Juneau with 1 minute to spare.
I was going to post a link to the check in and boarding cut-off times from
www.alaskaair.com here but I suspect you know exactly what it says. Everyone here probably does. And we all know that just because it says you have to be present 30 minutes prior to flight for boarding, you can still get on the plane 15 minutes prior in many cases. That said, I'm not sure where you got the 5 minute prior to departure door closure. That isn't what is communicated to us - we are to have the cabin ready for door closure at 10 minutes prior to departure. In any case, I think it's unfair of you to blame it on everyone else but yourself. You showed up too late. Plain and simple. The agent wasn't "in a hurry to get home" and your friend in dispatch doesn't have any power to hold the plane for you. The company requires the agents close the flight 10 minutes prior to departure. You were late. Don't blame the agent who was doing what she was supposed to do. That's not fair. Just own that you showed up too late.
