I've fallen victim to DL's rerouting before, as well. Pretty much the exact same story, except I was flying into BTR. I arrived at the gate 25 minutes prior to departure only to be told that "due to my previous delay the airline was proactive enough to reschedule me" on a flight that departed six hours after my previous one. Since you were following all of DL's rules, it really sounds like you should have been offered IDB since you were Involuntarily Denied Boarding. Contact CS right away and let them know that you're due some compensation.

Otherwise, file a complaint with the DOT and let the good folks at DL know that you're doing so. DL has had a few run-ins with the DOT when it comes to not properly handling these situations (i.e. denying boarding without asking for volunteers, etc.). Don't passively accept their mistreatment.
