Also, interestingly enough, all new new 3Q in-branch promotional brochures for the Premier do not make a single mention, anywhere, even in the fine print, about the companion ticket.
It is not just in branch promotional brochures as after your comment I decided to look at the Thankyou Premier as a family member was considering applying and there is no longer any mention of a companion ticket or 15% off of airline tickets listed anywhere in the terms & conditions or on the additional services page or even the main page. It looks like these benefits have been removed for new cardmembers and now will only be offered for Prestige cardholders.

I wonder if existing cardmembers will continue to keep these benefits or not?

Just spoke to Citibank about something else and was told by an account supervisor that existing Thankyou Premier cardmembers were notified in February/March that the companion pass would no longer be offered starting with renewals in 2014. However, I never received this notification and have not seen any mention of it on Flyertalk, so was anyone actually notified of this change? If this is really true, this is a deal breaker for me in keeping the card as this was about the only perk besides the 15% off benefit I actually used and a $125 annual fee for 15% of airline tickets is not a strong value proposition in my opinion since it would cost over $834 in airline tickets purchased just to break even on the annual fee with the 15% discount. I am sure some spend far more than that on airline tickets annually but my travel plans fluctuate annually and often times the 15% off fares provide inconvenient routing or departure times so I don't use it for all of my ticket purchases.

Even worse for new cardmembers they do not receive the 15% off or annual complimentary domestic companion ticket. I am not sure how Citi plans to justify the $125 annual fee as the 33% bonus for flight redemption's certainly isn't a strong value proposition nor are the flight points. I can understand why people keep the Chase Sapphire Preferred at $95 because of the ability to transfer the points to quite a few partner programs, but since Citi only provides transfers to Hilton Hhonors at a relatively poor exchange rate I am not sure why they think cardmembers would keep this card.
