Just rechecked an upcoming Nice rental to see if rates had dropped. I always run generic checks in a few booking engines to see who has cars and roughly what they're charging without any discount codes applied.
Today I saw a new one that I've never seen before in multiple prior checks for NCE: Firefly.
As it was the lowest rate by quite a margin, I did a little more digging and eventually booked a car with them. As it turns out, they are a Hertz brand in a few different European countries.
Anyone here used them? Are they something new? Are they akin to the "Wheelz" product that rolled out here in the U.S. a few years back? I've rented in a few European cities before and never encountered them, nor did I see them at all in the months leading up to this Nice rental that will take place in the next couple weeks.
Are they reliable? Do they have a reasonable rental process or are they going to hard-sell insurance and other add-ons? Will they accept the fact that my credit card will provide most or all of the optional insurance products that I want?
My booking required no credit card to confirm - I just show up and *hope* that they have my car.
Just found it odd to find a brand new car rental brand that I'd never heard of or seen in my prior travels...and even odder that it's a Hertz brand. (Perhaps oddest of all that "firefly" didn't reveal any threads on this forum at all!
