As pointed out last year already, NF is a zoo during summer weekends with loads of tourists from less price-sensitive countries, who simply pay more, when they want to have a certain room category.
Hence, limited room for space available upgrades.
Actually, it is quite simple.
Do not forget that they run a business over there.
Free breakfast in their main restaurant seems to be a good deal anyway.
Sending an email to set the expectations straight is also quite professional.

Guys, I am more than happy to be proved wrong here. In fact it would make me really really happy if the hotel complies not just with the letter, but also the spirit, of SPG T&C's.
Did I miss any mention of alternate evening hors d'ouveres in the bar, or say all day access to bottled water, sodas etc, or a specialty coffee maker when the lounge isn't available for Platinums... Pretty standard Sheraton lounge access inclusions IMHO...
