This might come as a shock to the pilots, however, it is their Job to be constantly monitoring instruments - and yes, that includes the speed of the plane.

Also, my understanding was that "landings/approach strategy" are to be planned "in advance". 7 seconds does not cut it.

This is absolutely unforgivable.

Assuming this turns out to be "pilot error" (i.e. pilot gross negligence) , I would immediately fire all 4 pilots for this.
Not only firing the pilots, I am hoping jail time for them if it's indeed "pilot error". I am sure taxi drivers will be put in jail if they cause fatal accidents, if it is due to "driver error".
