Reduced Ex Euro Tier Thresholds

Living in Spain for a number of years I was Gold when the lower thresholds ended 1st March 2012.

So at my Tier Point collection year ending in Aug 2012 I was able to renew Gold at 800 Tier Points and should about get those.

So I have 2 questions for any ex-Euro based BAEC or anyone else in the know.

1. If I did not retain gold would my lower thresholds cease to exist for future.

2. Assuming I stay Gold will next year also be at 800 and is that the final year of this lower threshold?
