It's still not clear, but note that it doesn't cover items shipped to you until you accept them, so it might seem sensible that the day you received the mac is treated as your purchase date.

Also, I think the day you purchased the item doesn't count. If the coverage was for 1 day, it wouldn't end at midnight on the day of purchase (that would never provide you with a full day of coverage).

Regardless, file the claim, by calling them immediately, and filling out the paperwork carefully. Make sure to give them something to satisfy this requirement:
(iv) a police, fire, insurance claim
or loss report and/or other
report of the occurrence of
the loss sufficient for
determination of eligibility
for the benefits hereunder
