This is why I always travel with one or two small ziploc bags of powdered detergent from home along with dryer sheets. That way I don't have to gamble on availability comped detergent!
Try Purex 3-in-1 sheets which are detergent, softener, and dryer sheet in one. They are much easier than powder and do not make a mess if the Ziploc bag breaks.
