If you make the wrong changes, they will deteriorate the existing success rate of what we have right now. When something has been working for years with outstanding success day in and day out and is working right now even after the crash of this jet you have to be extremely careful.
I'm not saying they do need to make them, I'm simply saying it's far too early to tell whether changes are needed either to the cockpit systems (which didn't give any warnings) or to the slides (which inflated inside the aircraft and almost suffocated two crew). Especially in the case of the slides, this is only the second crash of the 777 and one of (thankfully) few crashes of any of the modern Boeings, therefore it's hard to describe the slides as "working for years with outstanding success day in and day out".
