If they have not taken the flights their Rapid Rewards numbers can be added anytime before the flight takes place.
If they have already taken the flights you cannot get points for them now.
Anyone can use their points to get a ticket for anyone else. But you cannot just combine accounts to make up enough points to get a ticket. You can transfer points from one account to another with a fee.
