I disagree. The much-trumpeted switch for Moscow to longhaul was only 2 years ago if that. BA were always going to be short of longhaul 767 aircraft to service this route, along with the other commitments for the fleet unless all aircraft were 100% available at all times which doesn't happen. BA were able to mitigate this for a while when the route first started as the BMI birds were also flying the route and I got a swap to their midhaul 321s a couple of times for the overnight flight. No longer though..
It's the cabin crew I feel sorry for in these situations as they take the brunt of the justifiable pax grumpiness - working a looooong day in Russia after no sleep is very tough...
