NTSB press update about to start. Live stream here http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/live#&cmp=twi-kgo-live

Update:

- engines show evidence they were at high RPM on impact
- NTSB to investigate landing history on accident runway to see if ILS outage caused any issues
- The lower portion of the tail cone is embedded in the sea wall
- Sea wall debris located several hundred ft up the runway
- The coroner has NOT confirmed the pax was killed by the fire truck. The evidence so far is not conclusive
- Just reiterating the go-around conversation was in the flight deck, not call to ATC for permission

Some data from the FDR

- 1000ft 149kt
- 500ft 134kt 34s before impact
- 200ft 118kt 16sec before impact
- 125ft throttle up 112kt 8 sec before impact
- 3 sec before impact 103kt 50% power increasing
- impact 106kt
- 137kt is the target speed to cross the threshold

Questions now (long detailed press conference)

- Q: Any other warning prior to stick shaker? A: None briefed yet, however AC configured landing so terrain warnings would be purposely disabled. No audible warnings prior to stick shaker in CVR.
- Various questions about crew history. Debbie not answering until after interviews completed later today.
- Lots of speculative questions from the press wasting time

Press conference is over. Another scheduled tomorrow which Debbie said she hoped to contain info about the pilots. Edit: summary of that press conference here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/21068833-post1843.html
