One caveat is that you're trying to go to Asia during a very busy time...Mid-October through Mid-November is about as busy as it gets in HKG, with Canton Fair going on in nearby Guangzhou, and dozens of ancillary trade shows in HKG as well. Hotels are grossly inflated in HKG and throughout Asia during the fair period. (I just got back, hotels in HK were 1/2 the price they were just 2 months ago during the April edition of Canton Fair).

Award space is also very tight, especially in premium cabins, and usually doesn't get better as the time gets closer that time of year.
