I think a point is being overlooked here !
Ok the stroller has been checked as baggage.
Now how are the 1-2-3 kids going to hoof it to make the connection ?
Why of course they can be carried by their folks.
There is a reasonable limit to just how far the kids can be carried AND
what about the other carry on baggage (diaper bag and toys and things to
keep the kids occupied during flight) let alone the adults personal items !
So who is going to carry the other carry on items.
Granted distances are not to the extreme at SLC and the moving walkways
will help to a degree but in the absence of wheeled assistance this is just
downright inconvenient and inconsiderate customer service. The use of a
stroller (and wheelchairs for that matter) can not be overlooked !
The time it takes to retrieve the stroller from the aircraft cargo hold and
make it available for the customer to use at the gate can not be more than
5 or so minutes on a CRJ eq - maybe a bit more with the electric cargo doors
of larger equipment requiring a belt loading/unloading piece of equipment.
A person in a wheelchair would not be subjected to this treatment so why
would a family with kids who obviously need the stroller to make things
convenient to get around and about be treated differently.
Simply put these folks need a little help with getting the stroller from the
cargo hold of the CRJ to the gate to use it timely. Obviously they can not
safely stow the stroller inside the cabin of the aircraft so why penalize them
further. This is not that difficult a situation !
I'll get off the soap box now and let this sink in !
