New to this forum... Hello everyone.

We are planning on standing by at the airport for an earlier CX flight on the same day from HKG. Just wondering how easy/difficult it is to get onto an earlier standby flight?

We booked separately so there are 2 scenarios...
1. An AA Award Ticket on First Class (Saver award)
2. An economy ticket (booked via expedia) but with AA EXP status

From a search on this forum it seems it's usually up to the CX checkin staff. I see one thread similar to scenario 1 but not sure if the AA EXP (Emerald) helps at all in scenario 2.
