Mooncakes are confiscated not because of the fruit but the presence of salted egg yolk. The eggyolk-less ones are OK as well as the fruits and nuts.

Thanks for the hint, btw. Have been thinking of taking mooncakes to the US based part of my family around each Full Moon Day...Those rules sound overtly pedantic but then, what can you do?
