Just to add (I don't think anybody else has mentioned it), you don't get any extra Tier Points because you are bronze, but what you do get is extra Avios.

So if your ticket would normally give you 20TPs and 1000 Avios, then once you are bronze that same ticket will give you 20TPs and 1250 Avios.

Whether you should pay extra to qualify for bronze and so pick up 25% extra Avios is really for you to decide, but many on here would suggest it is not worth it.

Even buying Avios at full price on the BA website they cost only £31 per 1,000. (There are even cheaper ways to get Avios.)
