I fail to see the contradiction.

LH tries to cripple union influence and arguments by shifting operations to an LCC they elevated as future regional operator and the unions grapple any opportunity not to loose that influence.

Not matter how hard the union attacks will be, LH already has the advantage they they can jettison 4U if worse comes to worst. But if they are opening such blatant loopholes as handing planes over to 4U, resistance is pre-programmed.
