So today I found AF has released 2 biz seats on CDG-AMS which we took an involuntary downgrade to coach at booking. I thought I would try my luck with International Reissue Desk to see if I could get a change back to business class without having to pay $150...

The agent "Marie" said I could not change because it was "Married Segment" due to the leg started with SVO (SVO-CDG//CDG-AMS with SVO-CDG in O, a forced overnight, then CDG-AMS in X) and there is no business seats available for SVO-CDG.

I asked her to look more carefully, we are ALREADY in O on the CDG-AMS segment, plus it is the day before. The connection is already broken, how can this be "Married Segment", on top of that they are not booked into same class to begin with?

She then put me on hold, and came back said I could change back to business but had to pay $150 fee plus additional taxes AND miles... Say what? The $150 fee is legit, additional taxes I am not sure (unless CDG is like LHR, charges higher taxes on premium cabins). Additional miles is total BS.

Though now it has become clearer and clearer that DL is instructing Agents to use "married segment" as an excuse to deny award seats when it is just a total BS.
