After reaching the threshold spend that triggers the bonus, I would like to cancel the card ASAP in order to get a pro-rata refund of the annual fee, even after a month two. Any experience of how Amex take this? Has anyone done it?
I cancelled my starwood card after about 3 months. I was a little embarrased doing it as I figured it would seem obvious I had just got it for the points. However the agent on the other end of the line was incredibly friendly and could not have cared less(in a good way) - in fact she said that since I had had it for such a short period she would just refund the entire annual fee.
I got the £75 refund shortly after.
