Good Morning,

My partner and I would like to sit together in peace on our trip from AMS to DTW in August. We had booked DL251, which was supposed to be operated by a 330 - which is a great aircraft when you travel with your partner, and would like some window view. Unfortunately they have now changed the equipment to 777 with a 9-abreast seating, which means there is a chance me and my partner has to sit very close to some stranger. We are currently booked on a aisle and window seat, with the middle seat empty. But the flight seems already quite full, and I am concerned this middle seat will also be filled as the travel date is approaching.

However I can see that the last two rows of the 777 has only two seats by the windows. They look fully booked, but does anyone know if these seats are blocked and usually opens at check in?

Also, for one of our other flights, on an US domestic segment, they have cancelled our flight and booked us into another flight, which is now completely full, with only one seat to choose for the two of us. There are still preferred and Economy Comfort seats available. Does anyone know a trick to get these for free without any status? Or do we risk to be bumped on the flight? We do want to sit together, and we must have window view (For us, that is what flying is all about).
