Yeah, if it was Barclays I'd just be impressed they figured out how to do a pull, and just one.

I suppose, technically, "not required" could mean "we still do it for everyone anyway, even though it isn't required." That would seem to be pretty disingenuous, though, even for a credit card company.
This is also the company that will automatically process purchases of Amex GC as a cash advance, just because they can. Regardless, they said not required, even a soft pull is a lie...
